The Veterinary Clinic of East Hampton

Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic surgery refers to procedures involving bones and joints. These include:

Fracture repair
Cranial  cruciate ligament rupture repair
Patellar luxation stabilization
Bone biopsies

Our  pre-operative evaluation includes a full physical exam, blood tests  (e.g. complete blood count, clotting times and biochemistry panel). In older animals, or animals with heart conditions a chest x-ray will be done as well.
While under general anesthesia all patients are monitored  by a licensed veterinary technician and electronic monitoring equipment (ECG, capnograph, pulse oximeter).
Pain management is a part of our pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocol.
